Kasuti embroidery

Kasuti embroidery is a form of threadwork , counted thread embroidery which has its origin in Dharwad district of karnataka ,India. A calico net is fixed to the base material on which the pattern is to be worked on. Normally the work is done in a single strand thread. The motifs which are predominantly in use are geometrical patterns, birds, animals, stars, borders, flowers etc. The stitches which are used Holbein stitch and the running stitch.
